What every woman needs….

TGIF!! Hope the week was good for all of you. We were busy as usual. I tell you, the days and weeks seem to be flying by lately. Not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing!!

Just wanted to share a quick little project I did earlier in the week. I saw this pillow somewhere and thought it was a cute idea for a bridal shower.

I am sure that this is what most of us say to our husband’s at night…LOL!

But if we are feeling a little fun, we may say this….

Here is a close-up. I planned on making it a little more detailed with some embellishment, but decided to just keep it simple.

Thanks to my friend Brandy for helping me out this project. Since I do not have an embroidery machine, she was kind enough to do it for me! Thanks Brandy : )

Some positivity….

Good morning everyone!! I was not planning on posting this morning since we are going to be headed out the door shortly. But I wanted to quickly play along with my friend LeeAnn who has a new linky starting today. It is ‘Tell us something good’……

The Life of Rylie...and Bryce too!

We should all take the time a little more often to think about how blessed we are and stop focusing on the negative. I know I am guilty of dwelling on the bad sometimes. So, no more negative thoughts.

My something good today is this….

I discovered these tasty treats a few weeks ago. I have been TRYING to eat better and shed a few pounds. These are only 100 calories. I add a few scoops of Cool Whip on top and it is like have dessert for breakfast!

Enjoy your day!

Easter Monday…

Happy Easter Monday!! Not sure about other places, but here in NY most schools are still off as they celebrate ‘Easter Monday.’ So we have a day to rest and recover from the weekend’s festivities. But yes, this Easter break is feeling longer than ever! LOL! I am ready for Christopher to return to school on Wednesday : )

We had a nice day yesterday as we celebrated with my family. To our surprise the weather ended up being sunny and warm. That changed what my kiddos were wearing…lol. I had bought them nice long sleeved linen shirts and sweater vests….needless to say, those will be returned. But I will take the sun over nice Easter outfits any day.

We colored our eggs Saturday night. Now, the funny part is this. When we were kids my parents used hide the eggs that we had colored. We would find them and then eat them for breakfast on Easter morning. That is what we did…so that is what I am used to. The hubs’ family used to hide plastic eggs filled with money, candy and goodies. And apparently they did not eat the eggs that they colored. So, with our kids we are trying to do our ‘own’ thing. We colored the eggs, I ate them for breakfast and then we hid plastic eggs filled with candy. The hubs says I was tormented as a child for having to look for hard boiled eggs…LOL!

Here are our eggs. They were a little sad looking as it is way too hard for a 2 year old to try and color and decorate eggs!
DSC03460

I made a bunny cake to take to my sister’s house….it came out okay. It kind of stuck to the pan so I had to try and fix it….lol.
DSC03481

My sister Jeanna made a Hello Kitty cake as we celebrated her birthday and my niece's birthday. It came out really cute.

Needless to say, this is not Christmas. The kids went on an egg hunt in the house and at the end of the hunt they got a basket filled with candy and one toy. That is more than enough. Plus they got candy from my in-laws and my parents.

Do you think my kids are going to be on a sugar high all month???

Mug Happy……

TGIF bloggy buddies! Hope you all are having a great week and have all of your Easter preparations done and ready. I, on the other hand, do not have not accomplished much. I just went out last night to get the kiddos some candy (and ONE toy…this is not Christmas!) for their baskets. I have a some cooking and baking to do and I haven’t even made my shopping list….LOL!

Instead…I was playing around last night with my Silhouette making some more mugs. I happened to be at the Dollar Tree and they had the plain white mugs…..so I picked up a few.  I only have black vinyl…..so now I need to get some additional colors. My mugs could be so much nicer with a little color.

I made this one for my father in law for his birthday. My kids call him ‘Grandpa Kitty’ because the have a cat. My parents have a dog, so naturally they are Grandma and Grandpa Doggy…LOL.

These I made for my sister and her new ‘fiance’. I saw them out in blogland somewhere and thought there were adorable (forgive me for not remembering where I saw them).

And while the Silhouette was going strong….I added this to my phone sleeve : )

My wedding dress….

Happy Monday everyone!! Hope you all had a great weekend and are starting off the week on a good note. This week the kiddos are off from school for Easter break. We have a few playdates scheduled and I am going to try and get in some ‘spring cleaning’….we all know now is the time to clean out those closets and drawers!!

Well, our anniversary was this past Saturday. And let me tell you…..the day was completely hectic. We were overbooked with T-ball, acting class, a birthday party and even a trip to the hospital to see my sister (she was admitted Friday night for pnemonia but is doing okay now)!! But Saturday night came and Chris and I were sure we needed a break. It was a rainy, stormy night…..but we braved the weather and headed to dinner. It was so nice to have a few hours alone. We just talked, ate and reminisced about our wedding night.

Every year on our anniversary I try on my wedding dress. Yes, you heard me correct. I relive my wedding day all over again. I never got my dress cleaned and preserved after the wedding. My intentions were to do it, but I just kept putting it off and I am glad I did. What fun would it be to just look at the dress in a box?? I will say, there were a few years where the dress did not fit….LOL.

Here are a few pics from my actual wedding so you can see the dress when it looked nice. It is a strapless A-line gown with beading at the top and all along the bottom.

The kids were so funny when I tried the dress on. They wanted to re-enact the wedding, but this time I was marrying Christopher..LOL. And Anthony melted my heart by pointing at me and saying ‘princess.’

Here is the front of the dress….

Here is the back detail with all of the buttons….

Here is the dirt that is still on the bottom…LOL!

I even tried on my headpiece……

And here is me with my boys…..the best part of being married is that I have them.

And I am planning on wearing this dress again someday to renew my vows….hopefully it will be in Hawaii which is where we went on our honeymoon!!

Hope you all have a great Monday!

Happy Anniversary…..

Tomorrow marks our 7 year wedding anniversary (11 years together)! Sometimes I sit back and just think about how life has changed over the years. Things were so simple, so easy and so fun. Going to nice dinners and getting cocktails on the weekends were a ritual for us. Now, we haven’t been to dinner in forever…LOL!

But, 2 kids later, our life it complete. Staying home on the weekends and playing with our boys is worth more than any good steak…LOL! I am truly blessed to have a wonderful family. Marriage is not easy. There are good times and bad times. Happy times and sad times. But always trying to remember why you married in the first place is so important. We tend to lose sight and steer off the path of love in this hectic world. Bringing it back and putting it into perspective is something I know I need to do more often.

Thank you to my husband for being an excellent provider, a great father and an amazing husband. I hope we have many more happy, healthy years together!!

Finally…a Miscellany Monday…

Hope everyone is off to a good start this week.  It is supposed to be warm here today….so my good mood is in the hopes that the weather man is correct. We had a very busy weekend, as usual. I haven’t done a Miscellany Monday post in awhile, so figured today is as good a day as any to do some rambling.

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

ONE. I took the plunge and came in to the age of technology. The hubs and I got these over the weekend….
HTC-Inspire-4G-on-Pre-Order-at-RadioShack-for-99-2
Now I think I need to take a college course if how to use it. It is amazing what phones can do. I am sure I am not going to be using half of the features, but it is fun to play around. I am a little scared though….seems like people can track anything about you from these phones!!

TWO. Spring is officially here…..I know because  T-Ball has officially started for Christopher. We had a few practices already and this past Saturday was the opening day parade. The kids picked the name ‘Superhero’s’ which we all thought was cute. At Thursday’s practice some of the mom’s thought it would be fun if the kids wore capes in the parade….you know, to go with the name of the team. So, being the nice person that I am, I decided to volunteer and make 10 capes the night before the parade!!!
DSC03410
Of course I needed to make Anthony one too!
 DSC03414
The kids looked great and they all had a blast. We are looking forward to a great season!

THREE. On a sad note, there was a terrible accident right near our house over the weekend. Supposedly a woman and her hubs were fighting, she left in her car and the hubs was chasing her. She crashed into a parked car going 120 miles per hour and then swerved and hit a gas pump. Needless to say, she died instantly.

It just got me thinking about how short life really is. There were probably arguing over something so silly and look how it ended. I am promising myself to not sweat the small stuff and to put things in perspective. I say that today until my kids are driving me crazy tomorrow…LOL!

Have a great day everyone…

Crazy Cat Lady Neighbor….

Good morning!! We are out the door early this morning but I couldn’t resist a quick little post on something I made for someone special.

I don’t think I have ever written about my neighbor Mary. Well, we call her the ‘crazy cat lady.’ She loves cats. I mean, she lives for cats. Not only does she have 6 herself, but she is part of a rescue team. Every single day, 2 times a day, she goes and feeds 30 stray and feral cats. She buys the food with her own money, spending hundreds of dollars a month.

Mary is very generous with my kids. She is also there if I need her to sit with the kids for a few minutes every now and then. So, when she came over asking for a donation a week ago, we happily gave her $50. Now, remind you, neither Chris or myself are animal people. But this is her passion and we love her.

She surprised me by coming over with a video she made the other day. I nearly fell off my chair. You can view it here. It is actually really funny. I helped her to upload it to YouTube.  If you don’t watch the video, she calls herself ‘Peddling Granny’ and she tries to ‘exercise’ her right to spay and neuter cats.

Well, today is her birthday so I wanted to get her a little something. I decided to use my Silhouette and make her this mug…

I also saw these notecards and thought they would make perfect ‘thank you’ notes that she could give to the people that donate to her cause.

I hope she likes her present…..

The last Lego themed party post!

Happy Monday blogland!! We had a great weekend but I am so glad it is over. I am exhausted for all of the partying we have been doing these last 2 weeks! I am hoping to get back to ‘normal’ in real life and here on my blog.

Friday was Christopher’s real birthday (yes, April Fool’s Day…and the joke was on me that day…LOL). We celebrated that day and then again on Saturday when we had his kiddie party at the local kid’s gym. He had a blast at the party and I think all of the kid’s did too. I am going to make this post more about the details of the Lego party. I was so thankful when I was planning his party to see what other mom’s did, that I am hoping to share my ideas in the hopes to help others.

You can read here about some of the crafts I made for the first Lego party that we had last week at home with the family. I tried to re-use what I could for the kiddie party. The Lego heads, Lego bodies and the name signs were all used again as décor at the gym party.

Here  are the goodie bags. They were just yellow party bags that I drew on with sharpie markers to create the different faces.
DSC03369

Both the boys and girls goodie bags had candy and a glowstick. The boys also had a Lego that they could build at home.
DSC03365

I tried to incorporate the Lego theme for the girls goodie bags. I decided to make them a Lego headband. I thought they came out cute. I even made one for myself and wore it to the party!
DSC03358

My niece told me that ‘plastic headbands hurt her head’ so I was nice enough to make her a Lego necklace instead!
DSC03367

Christopher of course had to have his Lego crown!
DSC03371

I figured it would be a good idea to make name badge pins for all of the guests. This way it would be easier for the teachers at the gym to yell at the kids…LOL!
DSC03372

Lastly, was the cupcakes and the cakes. I just made regular chocolate cupcakes and topped them with different Lego themed graphics.
DSC03376DSC03377

I made 2 cakes, the Lego head cake from last weeks party and this one too!
DSC03374

And I leave you with at least one picture from the party...US. Note - the boys are wearing the Lego birthday shirts I made them and I am wearing my own ‘Head of the House’ Lego shirt!! LOL!

Happy Monday....
