Phone Photo Friday….

Hello bloggy buddies!! Happy Friday. Sorry we have been a little quiet this week. We have a lot going on, and like most of you, blogging is what ends up taking a back seat.

But I could not let a Friday go by without sharing a phone photo. Which, by the way, I may be coming into the year 2011 and getting a ‘smartphone.’ I am not sure I need it or want to spend the money. But our contract is up and I really do need a new phone. Are all of you on IPhones and Droids?? Let me know if you really think it is a necessity…LOL! My fear is that it will become consuming and I already have enough on my plate : )





Anywho, when I saw my boys cuddling like this, I just had to snap a shot!!

Some exciting news, I broke down and bought the new Silhouette SD. I am so excited. I got it in the mail this week and have just started playing with it. I will be sure to share anything I make once I figure it out.

Weekend Happenings….

As you all know, we had a very busy weekend!! I am glad it is over and feel
a big sigh (…ahhhhhh) of relief.

Saturday was the baby shower….you know, the one where I was making a hundred gifts…LOL! I have to say, I am not very close with the girl who is having the baby (she is the hubs’ cousins wife). The hubs kept saying to me ‘why are you putting so much effort into her gifts…..you are not even that friendly with her.’ But I wanted to do it…partly for me as I learn and love to craft and sew, but also because I wanted people to see that you can really make beautiful things yourself.

The last of the handmade gifts are my favorite. I had never made a tutu before but just think they are so cute, so I tried it. I was really happy with the way it came out.

I had found the pink onesie but it had a graphic on it. I decided to cover the graphic with this zebra print heart and bow. And I saw the pink leggings for $1 at Marshall’s!! They were perfect to complete the outfit.

I had some extra fabric from a previous project (look familiar Shannon??) and thought I would make a tag blanket. I made it a bit bigger than the usual taggie.



I was nervous when I got to the shower that she wasn’t going to like what I made. But I have to say…..she was super excited and so was everyone else. It made all of my hard work worth it : )

So….I won’t show you all of the pics from the bridal shower on Sunday…..but I will tell you that we make hats for baby showers and bridal showers….LOL!


One last photo to share….here is my mom (underneath me….yes, her hair is way too big..LOL) and 2 of my sister’s. My 3rd sister couldn’t make it. But it was nice to spend some time with ‘just the girls.’

Phone Photo Friday and more gifts….

Happy Friday!! We have such a busy weekend that I know it is just going to fly by and it will be Monday before I know it. Between 2 showers, a birthday party and acting class…my brain is hurting already : )

To continue quickly from yesterday’s post with my handmade baby shower gifts, I have 2 more items to share with you.

Here is another bib and burp cloth set. I found this fabric on the clearance rack at JoAnn’s and just loved the saying. I didn’t know what else to do with it…..so I took the easy way out…LOL!




Next, I made a matching wipes case and ''ouch pouch’…(yes, this is my version..LOL).

This was my first attempt at covering a wipes case. It came out ‘okay.’ I wasn’t too pleased. Seems as though I am in need of a new hot glue gun because it really wasn’t as clean and neat as I would have liked it to be. But….it is the thought that counts, right? I filled the zippered pouch with a few first-time mom essentials…hand sanitizer, Lysol spray, a First Aid kit and a thermometer.


I still have more things to show you. I am saving the best for last…so check back on Monday.

I take my kids to the library at least once a week. We have a great ‘kid’s’ section with books, toys, DVD’s and even Wii and DS games. It doesn’t help that I am always late returning things and usually spend more money in late fees than the cost of the items…LOL! Here is Christopher deciding on what book to borrow…..

And here is Anthony cutting at the kitchen table. This is his new thing…all he wants to do it cut. I am glad he is getting used to holding the scissors and using his fine motor skills.

My handmade baby gifts….

Hello bloggy buddies! Hope you all are having a good week so far. Just wanted to do a quick post to share a few of the projects I have been working on.
This weekend I have a baby shower on Saturday and a bridal shower on Sunday. Talk about an expensive weekend…LOL!

For the baby shower I was just going to buy something off of the registry. I went shopping and wasn’t really too happy what I was finding. I ended up just coming home with a shopping cart cover!! So I decided to make a few things. I browsed Etsy for some ideas. Here are a few of the things I have made so far.

A bow holder…

We do not know what the baby’s name will be….so I could not do the ‘letter’ version of a bow holder. I saw this frame version and thought it was just as cute.


I also made a bib and burp cloth set. The front is a cute flannel fabric and the back is terrycloth. I just used a bib and burp cloth I had to trace the patterns. 

I added a cute butterfly to the bib.


Next, I did the ‘cupcakes’ that are made out of rolled washclothes and onesies. I found washclothes that had a speckled edge….which made it look like sprinkles…LOL! I bought a bakery box to put them in, added a fake strawberry on top and finished it off by decorating the box.

For those of you who are expecting a Home Tour Tuesday, well, we are on a slight hiatus this week. The girls, Shannon and Daphne, are both super busy this week and needed a little break. Hopefully we will be back in a week or two.

Now…the exciting news. I told you we were getting a new car last night. The lease was up on my Chevy Tahoe (which I loved) and so it was time to decide on what we wanted to drive for the next 3 years. The choices were….

- 2011 Ford Explorer
-2011 GMC Acadia Denali
-2011 Chevy Traverse

And the winner is……..
GMC ACADIA DENALI





I am so excited. We wanted something a little smaller this time so a crossover was a good option. We all know gas prices are outrageous! We need it to be able to tow the boat as well as roomy enough for our family to take on vacations. The GMC was the best value for the money. It has all of the bells and whistles. It comes with OnStar, a car phone, leather, IPod docking station, Bluetooth and so much more!!

You are going to laugh when I tell you I haven’t even driven it yet. The hubs is the one that took it for a test ride and he drove last night when we picked it up. To tell you the truth, I am glad I will be driving it alone for the first time. Chris is overly cautious, especially with a new car, and he would have probably made be nervous!

So, thanks to my great hubby for being an awesome provider and allowing my to have such nice things!

Now….I have a going to ‘play’ with my new car and get moving on a few projects. I have a bridal shower and a baby shower this weekend and I have been making some gifts for both. I will hopefully have some pics to show you tomorrow.
