Hello bloggy buddies! Hope everyone had a great week. I know we did!! Spring has sprung for sure in the northeast. We had temperatures this week in the 70’s. It was amazing. Now I have had a taste of what you folks in the south experience all winter long….lol. I even broke out the flip flops yesterday!
Of course this year I bought my kids new snow boots, new snow pants and 2 sleds and it didn’t snow once! But it is ok….I would much rather have the nice weather. And with that, I decided to get a manicure in honor of the nice weather yesterday.
Do you like the flowers??
I am hoping to get a pedicure to match…lol!!
And, by the way, I didn’t have anyone comment on my last post regarding the cookbook e-book giveaway. I felt like a kid with no friends….lol! If anyone is interested in getting a copy of the book, let me know and I can email you a link!

Rise and shine, happy Monday!! The weekend is over and we are back to school and work today. I know that last week I was going to try and get back to a ‘normal’ blogging routine, but I fell short again these past few days. I am horrible, I know…….lol! But I forgot to tell you in my last post one other reason I have been so crazy. The reason is this……
The hubs just finished gutting our main floor bath…..
We have two bathrooms in our house, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both are kind of in need of a renovation, but the upstairs one was worse…lol. I do not have a master bathroom so this is shared by us and the kids. I did have a doorway from my bedroom in to the bathroom though. And we did use it. But with this reno, we decided to close up the doorway so our master bedroom could have more closet space. I think I can walk an extra five feet to the main door and it is not going to kill me. Closets to any woman are way more important!!!
I have spent countless hours and numerous trips back and forth, looking at vanities, picking out tile, lighting and a tub and toilet. All to find out….I need to START OVER AGAIN!!! I picked a vanity and planned the entire bathroom around it. Well, I went to order that vanity last Friday and it is discontinued!! I was so mad.
So, now I am going to be smarter. I am ordering the vanity first and then I will pick out the tile and the fixtures once I receive the vanity. The tub and toilet are ordered, so those will stay. But, renovations are hard…..there are so many decisions. I am going for a more traditional, classy look with this bathroom and I wanted a vanity that looked more like a piece of antique furniture and it was not easy to find!!
I was thinking along these lines for the vanity…..
Ok…and these would be my dream bathrooms if I was rich and had the space….
So, wish me luck during this process that I do not have a nervous breakdown and that I do not divorce my husband since he will be doing all of the work…..lol! No, seriously, I am so thankful that my husband can do anything. He saves us alot of money and no one is more meticulous than he is!! I know it will be beautiful.
Have a great day....
Happy Tuesday all!! I am so glad to actually be back to a ‘schedule’ after a week of having the kids home. I don’t think I opened my computer at all. It was kind of good in way, but I missed catching up with all my bloggy buddies. When the kids are home they need constant entertaining….lol. We had some playdates, went bowling and even hit an aquarium.
The week before the kids had off from school Christopher had come home with his first official ‘project.’ In order to celebrate the 100th day of school the kids needed to make something using 100 of an item. So as this is my first kid in school, I had no idea that the 100th day was just a historic landmark…lol. Apparently many schools celebrate this and the kids do activities throughout the beginning of school that lead up to the event.
We brainstormed what we were going to do. My first idea was to take a sheet of poster board and draw the number 100 really big and have Christopher glue 100 of something (i.e. – Cheerios, cotton balls, etc.) in the number. But, then I thought that that was probably a very common theme and most of the kids would do something similar.
After talking with my sister, we came up with a really cute idea. Since this was a ‘celebration’ for the 100th day of school, why not make a cake?? I went and bought 3 different sized styrofoam disks. Christopher painted them all different colors and then I hot glued them together. Finally, we placed 100 candles in the cake.
It was perfect….he was so excited to big it to school.
Okay, he might not look so excited in this picture, but he really was…..lol!
The best part was the next day after the celebration had taken place…..he thought that was it, school was over and that he was finished and off to 1st grade…..lol! Silly kid.
Have a great day….
Morning blogland! I hope everyone is off to a good week. Our schools here in the northeast are off this week for winter recess. So, I have the kids home and we have a few things planned. We went bowling yesterday and have a some playdates lined up. Hopefully that will keep us all content for the next few days….lol.
I woke up to an email from my Dad. Now, my Dad is just entering the age of technology and has just started to email. With that, he usually forwards 9,000 emails that are all JUNK! But I read this one and really just had to share. It truly is amazing how much life has changed over the last few decades.
Enjoy reading it……
TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930s, '40s, '50s,'60s and '70s!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who may have smoked and /or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then, after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets, and, when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps, not helmets, on our heads.
As infants and children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter, and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar.
And we weren't overweight.
WHY?
Because we were always outside playing...that's why!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day.
And, we were OKAY.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.
We did not have Play Stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVDs, no surround-sound or CDs, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from those accidents.
We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping-pong paddles, or just a bare hand, and no one would call child services to report abuse.
We ate worms, and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, 22 rifles for our 12th, rode horses, made up games with sticks and tennis balls, and although we were told it would happen- we did not put out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers, and inventors ever.
The past 50 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas.
We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
If YOU are one of those born between 1925-1970, CONGRATULATIONS! You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
While you are at it, forward it to your kids, so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.
Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it??
